VISA INFORMATION

PRE-ARRIVAL

You should apply for a visa about one month before you plan to arrive in China. It is to important to contact the Chinese embassy or consulate nearest you as soon as possible to understand their requirements for obtaining a visa as the process tends to vary from place to place. Please note that Chinese embassies do not work on Chinese national holidays, so double check the calendar before you pay a visit in person.

 SII will issue you a scanned copy of an invitation letter from your host company that will be required for your visa application.

There are a few different types of Chinese visas. The best one for you will depend on the length of your internship. If you are coming for a short-term internship (3 months or less), you most likely will be able to apply for a visa for the whole duration of your stay. In the case of a long-term internship, a visa extension may be required after your arrival.

EXTENDING YOUR VISA

 Interns who are coming for a period longer than 3 months will probably need to extend their visa after their arrival in China. There are visa agencies that specialize in helping foreigners extend their Chinese visas, and our team will help you contact them if necessary.

Be aware that visa extension usually costs between 2000-3000 RMB and sometimes may even cost up to 4000 RMB, depending on the specific Chinese foreign ministry regulations regarding your home country.
